About the position
The Senior Urban Planner has a pivotal role in supporting the Development Services Business Unit in achieving the City's operational objectives, performance improvements, project delivery, and cultural enhancements. This role actively supports the Coordinator Urban Planning/ Manager Development Services by providing leadership amongst the urban planning team. This Senior Urban Planner will be actively engaged in the timely and efficient determination of planning matters including development applications, subdivision referrals, subdivision clearances, Form 15A and Form 15C applications and compliance matters.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- A Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative planning framework, and strategic and statutory processes, including the Residential Design Codes
- Proven ability to think strategically, analyse situations and develop innovative solutions to complex problems with a high level of attention to detail
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- The ability to deal with customer enquiries and complaints in an effective manner with an emphasis on customer focus
- Well-developed leadership skills and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Current "C" Class Driver's License
