About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate Injury Prevention and Safety activities, including the provision of advice and support to work areas encompassing hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation and safety assurance. This role has a particular focus on ergonomics through the development and continual improvement of strategies, programs, and initiatives designed to ensure an effective safety management system is in place and support a culture of safety at West Moreton Health (WMH).
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level knowledge and experience in contemporary Health, Safety and Wellbeing issues and strategies, including the ability to interpret and apply legislation and standards within a complex changing environment.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and the continuous improvement of elements of a Safety Management System, particularly procedures, work instructions, tools and guidance.
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to manage information and provide advice on procedures, strategies and innovative solutions concerning Work, Safety and Wellbeing applications and initiatives.
  • Ability to lead assurance program activities such as internal system and hazard audits, reviews and implementation of actions.
  • High level of knowledge and skills in Healthcare Ergonomics, with the ability to design, deliver and evaluate training programs.

Mandatory Requirements:
  • Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 12/21 and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
