Your Opportunity
As the Senior Workplace Health and Safety Consultant you will:
* Provide high level Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) advice and support to managers and other business unit staff across the Region ensuring compliance, timely delivery of quality customer service, and continuous improvement of processes and systems.
This position reports to the Director, Assets Facilities & WHS.
This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity.
The position will be based primarily at Ashmore however you will be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high level strategic and operational WHS advice and support to management and staff, including initiatives for continuous improvement of safety practice and culture.
* Co-ordinate the strategic and operational activities of the team, specifically as they relate to Workplace Health and Safety.
* Develop productive partnerships with management and staff to identify and develop risk management approaches to business activities.
* Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of regional WHS and human resource policies, procedures and systems.
* Actively support the whole of TAFE Queensland health, safety and wellness projects as necessary.
* Assist in managing health, safety and wellness related activities through the review and monitoring of incidents, management of incident investigations, conducting regular audits and workplace investigations and monitoring the implementation of controls.
* Assist in the development, interpretation and analysis of WHS and human resources data and reports to assist business units with workforce planning and operational matters and formulate corrective and performance improvement actions where required.
* Manage rehabilitation and injury management programs, along with human resource cases including discipline, complaints and appeals.
* Actively participate in strategic and operational planning processes, committees and networks including consultation processes with the department, unions and staff representatives.
* Develop and deliver various training programs including Workplace Health and Safety and general human resource management related training as required.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
*
* Demonstrated knowledge and proven skills in the interpretation and application of WHS legislation, along with awards, industrial agreements, directives, policies and procedures.
* Proven ability as a role model, providing direction and using initiative while in a supervisory role.
* Proven experience in working collaboratively to achieve health and safety outcomes, and in building and sustaining productive stakeholder relationships.
* Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to provide discreet and unbiased advice.
* Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to make appropriate, informed decisions.
Qualifications/Requirements
The following qualifications and/or experience, although not mandatory, would be considered advantageous:
* Possession of a relevant Workplace Health and Safety qualification.
* Relevant experience in Workplace Health and Safety incident investigations
