Proquip Rental and Sales is seeking to recruit an energetic, experienced and highly organised manager into our Operations Team at our Ravenhall facility. The Workshop Manager is responsible for ensuring the seamless flow of the maintenance and workshop functions within the Ravenhall facility. Working with a broad range of plant, equipment and associated attachments, the role requires the incumbent to review, schedule and prioritise maintenance activities from service reports, hire team requests, planned maintenance alerts and spare parts availability, while continually monitoring the work order life cycle. The incumbent is required to provide leadership and guidance to a diverse team consisting of diesel mechanics, fabricators, trades assistance and administrators, ensuring that the entire team has clarity and control over their daily activities. This is a management role which is critical to the customer centric and responsive nature of the Proquip mechanical support function and will require both technical and people management competencies,
During a typical day you will demonstrate the skills required to:
• Promote a safety-first culture throughout the workshop facility and monitor the workshop operations for compliance to company HSQE standards.
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, fabricators, trades assistants, administration and sub-contractors to ensure work is completed to industry standards and to company quality expectations.
• Review outstanding maintenance reports, hire desk requirements, planned maintenance (routine servicing) alerts and spare part arrivals, and schedule workshop maintenance activities with the most appropriately skilled team member.
• Proactively manage in conjunction with the workshop administration, the work order and purchase order life cycle. Monitor workorder close out rates and ensure a high degree of data integrity to capture accurate expenditure against each asset.
• Communicate maintenance activities with the spare parts department to ensure part availability aligns to the maintenance activity timing.
• Actively manage workshop load fluctuations and schedule priorities
• Monitor and contain the machine under repair % to the agreed targets.
• Proactively monitor and action customer damage charges on a daily basis in conjunction with workshop administration to ensure a timely close out occurs with a high degree of data accuracy.
• Continually evaluate workflows and procedures to ensure the workshop is operating in a compliant and efficient manner, while implementing continuous improvement strategies when a process gap is identified.
• Monitor KPI’s relevant to the day-to-day workshop operations to meet machine mobilisation timeframes, productivity targets, quality and safety requirements. Communicate KPI’s and targets to team members so an understanding of the required outputs are fully understood.
• Deliver customer service excellence to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure workshop resourcing levels are adequate and aligned to the workshop output targets.
• Authorise maintenance team member timesheets and monitor team member work times to ensure alignment to employee wellbeing guidelines.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and ensure they operate within the terms of our operating procedures.
• Submit recommendations for workshop tooling and equipment.
• Hold team meetings in alignment with company requirements, including pre-start and toolbox meetings ensuring action points are documented and followed up.
• Ensure a high level of housekeeping is maintained throughout the workshop facility.
• Monitor monthly expenditure against budget targets and provide feedback to management.
• Actively participate in workshop development and technology enhancement projects.
Your CV will demonstrate
2+ years’ experience as a Workshop Manager or similar
A demonstrated history of delivering outcomes in line with agreed targets.
Ability to communicate and interact with a broad range of stakeholders, including sales, hire control, yard teams, customers, and spare parts departments.
Ability to manage, develop and empower team members while instilling a sense of purpose and ensuring employee wellbeing.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Experience with workshop budgets and maintenance KPI’s.
Ability to establish, maintain and enhance positive internal and external relationships.
