THE ROLE:
The Sewing Machine Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality and performance of industrial Sewing Machines within our manufacturing facility. The Sewing Machine Mechanic will be required to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of industrial Sewing Machines to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Machine Inspection and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough inspections of industrial Sewing Machines to identify mechanical, electrical, or electronic issues.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint and analyze malfunctions promptly.
Repair & Maintenance:
- Execute precise repairs on industrial Sewing Machines, including the replacement of faulty parts and components.
- Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of machines, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to production line issues related to industrial Sewing Machines.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions.
Quality Control:
- Ensure the quality of machine repairs and maintenance work to uphold production standards.
- Conduct tests and inspections after repairs to validate proper machine functioning.
Documentation & Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of machine inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Log details such as parts replaced, work performed, and time spent on each task.
- Manage inventory and raise requisitions when inventory is getting low.
Communication:
- Collaborate with production supervisors to understand machine performance requirements.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of repair processes and recommendations for preventive measures.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement in machine operations.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in industrial Sewing Machine technology and incorporate relevant updates.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all machine repairs and maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Raise any safety concerns related to industrial Sewing Machine operations with the Maintenance Manager.
OH&S Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safe working procedures, processes, and policies.
- Participate in the resolution of safety issues where required.
- Take reasonable care of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions.
- Report all hazards or safety concerns to your Manager or HSR.
Information Security:
- Ensure compliance with ADA Information Security Policies and Procedures.
- Understand and report security risks and breaches to the IT Department.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Trade certification as an Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic and/or proven previous trade experience as an Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic.
Licenses/Permits:
- Current National Police Check.
Knowledge / Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of various industrial Sewing Machine models, their components, and functionalities.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills for repairing and maintaining industrial Sewing Machines.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to details.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, managing time effectively to meet repair deadlines.
