Job description

Are you an experienced leader and social planner with a passion for community wellbeing? Do you enjoy social research and analysis and taking an evidence based approach to delivering positive community outcomes?

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and sophisticated Team Leader Community Planning to join Shellharbour City Council's Community Development Team.

Reporting to the Manager Community Development, this role will coordinate the delivery of Council's Community Planning services, including a wide range of social planning, data analysis and social research functions, all with the aim of enhancing evidence based outcomes for Community, Council, Councillors and Customers. Working closely with the Community Programs Team and other teams across Council, the role will help to identify and understand key community needs, wants and opportunities; research and design effective strategies, policies and practices; and guide and support program evaluation. The role is also heavily involved in Council land use planning functions such as assessing master plans, development applications, and other key policies and strategies.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in rigorous social research and planning and will have demonstrated leadership capabilities, as well as an ability to bring innovation and forward thinking to the Community Planning Team.

  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week with access to flexi-time
  • Commencing salary range from $98,485.40 - $102,464.44 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • 11.5% superannuation

Please Note: 

  • This position requires a National Police History Check clearance.
  • This position requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers
