AddressQueensland Rail has a permanent full time opportunity for a passionate Signal Engineering Officer to join our Signalling Reliability Engineering team.

As a Signal Engineering Officer, you will play a crucial role in technical support for the maintenance and troubleshooting of signalling systems across our existing infrastructure.
The role will have a mix of responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Collaborating with field technicians and other engineers to support signalling solutions.
- Conducting inspections and tests to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Analysing data and identifying areas for improvement in signalling infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to requests from maintenance staff regarding signal failures and implementing effective solutions to minimise disruptions.
- Providing technical support and training to team members.
It's important to note that the main focus for this role will be on technical support of our existing rail signalling systems across our rail network. Whilst ETCS is on our horizon, this role won't be at this stage supporting ETCS an also doesn't support telecommunications/networking systems.
What we're looking for:
- Extensive knowledge of Signalling Systems and equipment and the applicable Queensland Rail/maintenance standards, procedures, processes.
- Knowledge of Signalling Safe-working Principles, practices and procedures including testing and commissioning procedures of safety critical signalling systems.
- Technical and operational skills in investigating signalling incidents.
- Sound level of skill in auditing, quality improvement, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and risk analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
- Willingness to adapt to new technologies and industry developments.
Position Description
Other important information:
- Office is located within the inner Brisbane CBD suburb of Bowen Hills.
- Our standard working hours are 38 hour per work week Monday to Friday, however there may be requirement for some pre-planned/ad-hoc weekend work or outside hours work to support commissioning works. Compensation for approved outside hours work will apply.
Candidates at the time of application will be able to demonstrate that they currently hold the below professional qualifications and meet the employment eligibility requirements:
At minimum an Advanced Diploma Electrical Engineering or higher level qualification that is accepted by Queensland Rail.
Due to the timeline of the requirements for this role, we will only be able to accept candidates with unrestricted eligibility to the be employed within Australia.
