Calytrix has more than a decade of experience designing and delivering complex training events having delivered over 125 training activities involving military, government agencies, OGOs, UN agencies and emergency responders. 

Calytrix has been intimately involved with ADF training since 2007 and remains an integral component of Headquarter Joint Operations Command’s (HQ JOC) joint and collective training capability. We are increasing our simulation support capabilities to the ADF’s Core Simulation Capability. This group is responsible for delivering simulation services to make the Joint Collective Training environment as real and accessible as possible.  

Calytrix has over 80 employees, maintaining offices in Canberra, Perth and Orlando, Florida. Approximately 50% of our workforce are ex Defence members.

About your Position: Simulation Data Manager

Calytrix is seeking simulation professionals who will be responsible for the management of simulation configuration and training data used to support ADF Joint Collective Training (JCT) activities. This position is offered as a full time role.

Working in the Joint Collective Training Branch (J7-JCTB) of Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC), the Simulation Data Manager will work closely with the JCTB Joint Collective Training Directorate technical and plans teams to ensure that the suite of current Joint Collective simulation tools are configured and tested to meet the training objectives of ADF Joint, Single Service, and coalition exercise activities. This includes:

• Operating and providing instruction on, and maintaining various simulation applications, models and work instructions in support of simulation events.
• Working alongside JCTB and other Defence members to develop training packages for instruction of Lower Control (LOCON) single-service inter-actors for discrete simulation-enabled activities.
• Plan, develop, test and control constructive entities in specified simulation systems throughout the supported exercise cycles. 
• Assist in the construction of the Simulation Data Base to assure accurate ORBAT construction primarily via Joint Training Data Service (JTDS).
• Implement LVC federation designs in the Joint Collective Training Branch synthetic environment and Defence networks assets as part of ADF Training and Exercises.
• Train JCTB Ops staff and LOCON staff prior to each exercise utilising JLVC applications. 
• Working with the Exercise Plans Team (J73) and the event design team for development, testing, delivery and review activities to assure simulation outcomes and requirements are met. 
• Deploy to support the execution of simulation supported training events as part of the Lower Control (LOCON) or Simulation Control (SIMCON) elements.
• Proactively identify new or improved processes, technologies or conventions to support continual service improvement initiatives.
• Provide high level reporting on operational systems.

About You: The successful candidate/s will have some experience with:

• 5-10 years experience in Industry IT, military or combination of the two.
• Experience with ADF ORBATs and broad military functions.
• Sound understanding of development and application of training systems and exercise development processes in Defence, including policy, standards and training outcomes assessment.
• Effective communication and management skills based on previous Industry or Military experience. 
• Previous training or instructional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems and develop solutions
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a cross-functional team environment. 
• ITIL V4 (desirable but offered as training if required)
• A recognised certificate, diploma or degree in the field of Engineering or Information Technology (desirable)]\
