Our client, a leading mining company based in South Australia is seeking a Site Cost Accountant to join their team in a newly created role.
Your new role
As the Site Cost Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance and Commercial Manager as a key member of the Finance team to build systems, processes and undertake varied accounting functions. You will have the ability to adapt as the role and function grows.
Your main responsibilities will involve:
- Monitor costs on a daily basis in conjunction with outstanding PO together with department head or incumbents
- Support month-end activities including accruals, re-allocation, valuation, entries, review and reporting
- Ensure costs are allocated to the correct accounts and aligned with budget
- Collect and reconcile store and production physicals
- Identify transaction errors occurring and propose the solution to rectify the issues
- Assist with internal and external Management Reporting requirements
- Facilitate and make sure the AFE requests comply with company policy and procedures
- Assist with the asset capitalisation, verification and disposal
- Assist with annual budget and periodic forecasting
- Assist with tax and audit data collection as required
- In conjunction with the Finance Manager roll-out and maintain appropriate financial policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with the required taxation, regulatory and accounting standards are met.
- Together with the Finance Manager, train users and solve issues with ERP such as Pronto and other systems acquired in the future
- Other projects as assigned
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting and either CPA or CA qualified or still in completion.
- A minimum of 2-3 years management accounting experience
- Previous experience in a Cost Accounting role
- Experience within the mining industry in a similar site role would be seen as an advantage
- A natural problem solver with strong analytical/problem-solving skills with an eye for detail, including the ability to structure information to meet the needs and understanding of the intended audience
- Strong skills in Excel
- Experience with Pronto and Power BI is preferable
