Our client is a top-tier international construction contractor that is recognized globally as one of the world’s most successful contracting companies. They are the head contractor currently undertaking the replacement of the iconic Fremantle Traffic Bridge in Perth where they have a superb 3 month contract opportunity for a PROJECT ENGINEER (Substructures) to start immediately on this challenging project.
About the Role
Whilst this PROJECT ENGINEER (Substructures) position is initially a 3 month contract, there is a distinct possibility of additional tenure with the company, pending progress on this project and the status of other major projects that they are delivering in the metro region. You will form a critical piece of the project team focused on the delivery of the pylons that will support the bridge structure. Based at the project site in Fremantle, you will support the planning and delivery of the works, asserting your technical expertise and guidance on construction methodology and providing solutions to daily technical challenges. The successful PROJECT ENGINEER will support the Project Manager and SPE by managing subcontractors, tracking costs, QA?QC, and supervising the works. This role will suit a flexible, PROJECT ENGINEER who has previous Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil contracting experience in Australia, where any previous exposure to bridge construction, substructures and marine piling will be highly advantageous. Typical site hours will be Monday to Friday 6.30am-5.00pm with the odd Saturday half-day required. On offer will be a terrific pay rate CIRCA $60-75/hr + Super which is flexible pending your level of experience to date.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering minimum
- Minimum 3-6 years’ of civil/structural experience as SITE ENGINEER or PROJECT ENGINEER working for civil contractors on substructure construction projects in Australia
- Past project experience working as a SITE ENGINEER or PROJECT ENGINEER working for the contractor on coffer dams, diaphragm walls or marine piling for bridges, jetties, wharves
- Proven success operating as SITE ENGINEER or PROJECT ENGINEER on large projects valued $100M+ in Australia
- Previous experience or exposure to Perth PTA and MRWA projects will be highly regarded
- Excellent cost tracking and subcontractor management skills
- Friendly disposition with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Perth/WA based with existing rights to work in Australia
- Available immediately to start, or at 1 weeks’ notice maximum
