About the Role

Council’s Digital & Information Services Branch are seeking a Smart City Network Engineer to provide high level technical support for Council’s IT and Smart City Network Infrastructure and IT Infrastructure projects.
This will include supporting the implementation of the 2024 Council Telecommunications & Network Roadmap with regard to the deployment and ongoing management of physical network infrastructure assets.
You will support stakeholders across Council through management of the Telecommunications geospatial network map showing current and planned physical layer assets, network carriage and internet connections.
In addition to being responsible for Smart City Architecture and Network Design with regard to:
- Councils own Telecommunications Carrier License using Master Service Agreements (MSA); Dark Fibre,
- Council owned network conduit and pits
- Council optic fibre network
- Council LoRaWAN network
- Assist the Network & Communication team with managing and supporting the network and communication infrastructure including:
- Network communications equipment.
- All telephony systems, including Teams calling.
- Customer Contact Phone System.
- Fixed PSTN, IP Telephony and mobile voice systems.
- Network support at satellite sites, including Wi-Fi, ADSL and Telephony.
- Public Wi-Fi.
About you
You are tertiary qualified with a Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related discipline and /or substantial experience in a relevant associated field.
Your outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities to negotiate, consult and utilise assertiveness in resolving issues which arise will be essential to your success.
As an organised individual, you are well-versed in effective time management to manage competing priorities & multiple projects, while managing various stakeholder expectations.
