What’s the role?
- Provide culturally safe support and mentoring to young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are engaged with headspace.
- Work with young people and families in a strengths-based and choice-focused way
- Help to strengthen access to culturally informed, flexible support.
- You will be well supported by a team and work closely with all staff across headspace Darwin and headspace Palmerston
- Help young people understand the impact of mental and physical health, aiming to ensure young people feel good about seeking help.
Is this the right role for you?
- This is a Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role
- Cert IV qualification or equivalent in health or community services field (or similar), currently undertaking study or be willing to complete further study.
- Experience working with young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people and their families, providing social and emotional support.
- Experience with collaboratively working within a mental health setting including awareness of mental health and risk assessments is an advantage.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and familiarity with using a computer including Microsoft programs and demonstrated skills and organisation and time management
