Carnival Australia is thrilled to announce an opportunity within P&O Australia for a Social Media Executive to join their dynamic Marketing team. This full-time, 10-month contract role will be situated in Sydney's vibrant Chatswood district and will directly report to the Marketing Manager – Brand and Content. In this position, you'll spearhead the growth of Social Media channels, focusing on audience expansion and engagement, content creation, organic Social Media marketing, and community management across P&O Cruises' owned Social Media platforms. You'll collaborate closely with the wider P&O Marketing team and Corporate Affairs to elevate the P&O brand and contribute to achieving commercial objectives.

We're seeking a candidate who is deeply passionate about both travel and Social Media, capable of crafting imaginative and compelling social reels and posts across various channels. The ideal candidate keeps a finger on the pulse of content trends, possesses strong creative writing skills, excels in communication, and is adept at managing a dynamic Social Media calendar with a digital-first approach to brand storytelling.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Concepting, design and creation of compelling Social Media assets including reels, static
  •  and video content, without the reliance on a design studio or agency.
  • Collaboration with agency partners, influencers/ambassadors, and internal studio teams for additional Social Media assets as required.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders across different business units to develop Social Media plans and track monthly performance.
  • Offer support and guidance to contracted influencers aboard our ships, ensuring their brand experiences are optimized and all content opportunities are leveraged.
  • Maintain a monthly content calendar that synchronises with Marketing and Corporate Affairs activities.
  • Enhance existing P&O Social Media channels and establish new ones as needed.
  • Engage with comments in a lively, creative, and consistent tone.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing to identify posts in content calendars for boosting through paid media.

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated:

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in both Social Media and public relations, boasting exceptional writing skills and adept issue management abilities.
  • Successfully managed Social Media in fast-paced consumer settings.
  • Valuable understanding of traditional marketing; Marketing degree preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates creativity and deep immersion in Social Media.
  • Strong individual skills in the design and creation of Social Media assets including reels, static and video content.
  • Proficient in content marketing strategies and execution.
  • Skilled in sourcing and managing content development.
  • Seamlessly transitions between creative and analytical marketing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of major Social Media platforms and effective utilisation across contexts including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc., and how to leverage each platform effectively in different contexts.
  • Shows a keen ability to identify potential negative or crisis situations and apply conflict resolution principles to address them proactively.
  • Thrives under pressure, consistently meets tight deadlines, and maintains a strong work ethic coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Availability for 24-hour on-call duty and weekend work in Australia and overseas when necessary.
  • Possession of a valid passport is mandatory with ability to travel with minimal notice.
