Job description

Social Wellbeing Coach (Identified Position)

Join Our Team: Shaping a More Responsive Mental Health and Social and Emotional Well-being Head to Health Service in North Queensland

At PCCS, we're pioneering a path in mental health and social and emotional well-being services. Our service stands as a beacon of hope and support for those navigating their journey towards well-being and healing.  It is tailored to meet the intricate web of needs within our community, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and for people of all ages, walks of life and circumstances.

Your Role: More Than Just a Job

As part of our team, you'll engage in meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, acting as the road sign for your clients in accessing wellbeing and mental health services. Your mission is to listen intently, discover what truly matters to each individual, and guide them towards services that will assist their healing, meet their personal preferences, needs, and strengths. It's about painting a picture of possibilities, navigating through available services and systems and sometimes, creatively bending systems to make services genuinely meet personal, family and community needs.

What We're Looking For: A Heart to Serve and a Mind to Improve

We are seeking a resilient, compassionate First Nations Social and Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner.

Your will deliver person-centred support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients facing wellbeing challenges, assist them to achieve their recovery and healing goals, develop life skills, and strengthen connections with their culture, their country and their mob.

  • Expertise in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s wellbeing issues, complex needs, and connections to family, mob, county, culture and community services
  • A deep commitment to understanding and empathizing with every person's unique story
  • A strengths-based approach, focusing on the healing journey, what's strong and positive, not just what's wrong.
  • A belief in the power of relating and connecting to uncover what truly matters to someone
  • A readiness to explore, evaluate, and explain services, including their benefits and compromises.
  • A resourceful and practical mindset, ready to liaise with various service providers and to find solutions and healing pathways that are of value to the client.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, seeking feedback, and following up to ensure services not only meet but exceed expectations.
  • A capacity to educate and support co-workers in their understanding of First Nation’s history and culture, the impact of social and economic determinants, and the significance of the latter to the ongoing healing and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Qualification in Social Work, RN or other health-related field,
  • NDISWS and WWCC
  • Driver’s License

Our Promise: A Culture of Care and Continuous Learning

You'll join a team where every member is a custodian of our ethos—believing in the power of personalized care, advocating for system flexibility, and dedicated to making the system more responsive and culturally appropriate for all. We promise an environment that fosters growth, values each contribution, and champions the well-being of both our staff and the communities we serve.

How You'll Make a Difference:

  • Act as a primary contact point, offering a warm, non-judgmental listening ear and expert guidance.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand each individual's unique situation and needs.
  • Provide informed referrals, connecting people with the right services and supports so that healing can occur.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with service users and providers, ensuring a seamless and supportive healing journey.
  • Working with the Aboriginal and Torrs Strait Islander clients, improve their wellbeing and their management of their healing journeys.
  • Enhance the organisation’s knowledge of First Nation’s wellbeing issues and the social and economic determinants that impact on recovery and healing.

What’s on Offer

  • Attractive remuneration inclusive of superannuation
  • Tax-Free Salary Packaging available up to $15,900
  • Meal & entertainment allowance of up to $2,500
  • Generous leave provisions including 17.5% annual leave loading
  • Strong team support
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program
  • Opportunities for growth and development.
