About the role: We're looking for a Software Developer to join us with a 50% design and 50% development focus. You'll work on system features and concepts for the Acorn platform. Your day will include writing clean code, ensuring cross-browser compatibility, optimise performance, manage content, conduct testing, and collaborate with the full-stack team.
Location: We're looking for someone in the Canberra region where our head office is based.
Responsibilities
Development (50% of time)
- Implementing features in line with product goals, ensuring quality and maintainability.
- Understanding development lifecycle process, and how they are implemented within the company.
- Bug fixing and QA, including peer to peer code review.
Collaboration (30% of time)
- Collaborative development focusing on quality products and process.
- Working with other developers to review systems produced by other staff, with a critical focus on modularity, consistency and optimisation.
- Working with employees from other disciplines, including product managers, client support and graphic design.
Analysis (20% of time)
- Being involved in the end-to-end process for scoping, designing and approving product features.
- Understanding the product as a whole to find inherent improvements, and to provide insight and input into the direction of the platform.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree or certifications in a related field preferred.
- PHP and React: Experience with both is preferred
- Design Skills: Proficient in Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Front-End Development: Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills.
- User Experience (UX) Design: Understanding of UX principles.
- Responsive Design: Ability to design for various devices.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git.
- Quality Assurance: Testing and issue resolution skills.
- Desirable Skills: Video editing is a plus.
