About the opportunity
The National Health Services Directory (NHSD) is a joint initiative of all Australian governments, delivered by Healthdirect Australia, to enable health professionals and consumers access reliable and consistent information about Health Services. The NHSD plays an important role within the health system as a component of national digital health infrastructure.
In NHSD, the Engineering Lead is a technically hands-on member who will lead members of the team for optimal outcomes to the Directory that delivers value to Healthdirect stakeholders. The NHSD utilizes a “large-scale data processing system" and this role is involved in the design, build and delivery of that system and managing the team which does this.
What we’re looking for
This role requires strong technical capability coupled with excellent people management skills and the ability to drive and contribute to functions of data engineering and software development, requiring capability for managing work priorities across both streams. The essential skills required for this role:
- Strong experience in Software Engineering and distributed solution design on cloud utilizing diverse implementation paradigms.
- Experience leveraging AWS for secure and cost-effective data and backend solutions.
- ETL/ELT implementation experience.
- Experience with database design and data modelling.
- Demonstrable experience in functional programming, object-oriented programming in languages such as Java, Scala, Typescript and Python
