POSITION DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
Extential Solutions Pty Ltd seeks a meticulous, detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join our Products and Services Department. The ideal candidate will ensure our software products' quality and reliability through rigorous testing and validation processes. This role involves collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve defects, ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of performance and usability:
• Test Planning and Design:
o Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
o Identify, record, document, and track bugs thoroughly.
o Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Test Execution:
o Execute manual and automated tests on software applications to ensure product quality.
o Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
o Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to ensure system reliability, capacity, and scalability.
• Defect Management:
o Identify and document defects, and track their progress through to resolution.
o Communicate bugs and issues to developers and other stakeholders clearly and concisely.
o Verify and validate fixes provided by developers and ensure they meet the required standards.
• Collaboration:
o Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
o Participate in design and specification reviews to provide feedback from a testing perspective.
o Collaborate with developers to debug and troubleshoot issues.
• Reporting and Documentation:
o Create detailed test reports and summaries.
o Document test processes and methodologies to ensure repeatability and consistency.
o Keep abreast of QA industry best practices and trends.
Given the clinical nature of the products, any clinical/health background is a huge positive. However, this is not a mandatory requirement and can be learnt on the job.

The successful candidate will work closely with all areas of the business and will become an essential lynchpin in ensuring successful collaboration between the departments. They will work closely with:
- Software Engineers to ensure the creation of industry-leading, best-of-breed products,
- Project and Account Managers to ensure product feedback is captured successfully and customers have the appropriate documentation and training and
- Salespeople to ensure the smooth and successful running of product demonstrations and capture potential customer feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. At Extential Solutions, we value both education and proven commercial experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The following list of knowledge, skills and experience are relevant to the role:
• Proven experience as a Software Test Engineer or similar role.
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing.
• Knowledge of automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, C#).
• Familiarity with various operating systems (e.g., Windows, Mac OS, Linux).
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and a passion for quality.
• Experience in Health IT/informatics (desirable)
• Clinical background/experience (desirable)
