Job description

We bring true purpose, authentic people, and a proven path. You bring you.

The Team

The team is led by two experienced and highly regarded Joint Heads of Class Actions and assisted by a dedicated team of Practice Leaders, Special Counsels, Senior Associates and other legal professionals.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor with pre or post-admission experience contributing to the success of running Class Actions. Whether you’ve come from defendant or plaintiff practice, this is an opportunity, to rise to your professional potential, whereby you will be contributing to the development of groundbreaking Class Actions cases. Amongst a growing team of senior Class Actions legal practitioners, based in Melbourne, you will have an ideal balance of autonomy and guidance.

With compassion, connection and purpose, you’ll be a true champion of our clients by:

  • Assisting in class action investigations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of pleadings.
  • Drafting memoranda, correspondence and court documents.
  • Undertaking research.
  • Participating in discovery review.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with our clients, peers and other stakeholders through exceptional communication and clear management of expectations.
What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will:
  • Have a Bachelor of Laws with a current practising certificate.
  • Have pre or post-admission experience working on Class Actions.
  • Have an innate ability to question, challenge the status quo and always stay ahead of the pack.
  • Be a great communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Be committed to truly connecting with those around you and working together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
  • Bring passion, motivation and enthusiasm to contribute to our culture and ensure it remains a place where everyone can thrive.
Shine Lawyers: A place for you. It means more here.

  • It’s the communities we are part of and support every day.
  • It’s our team, who champion what’s right and make this place what it is.
We’re an ASX-listed organisation, and we've been standing up for the rights of everyday Australians for more than 45 years. We’ve achieved a lot but you’ll find no airs and graces here. We’re humble yet relentless. We don’t pretend to be anything other than ourselves. And together, we’ve created a place for you to thrive.

Here are some of the things we hope you’ll love about working with us:
  • Connect and be you: Get the flexibility and benefits you need, and work alongside truly authentic people who care so much - about the clients, Shine and you.
  • Challenge and be challenged: We’re not here for “easy”. We want you to take your place at Shine and make a real impact. Question and challenge - that’s how we grow.
  • Achieve and grow: Start your Shine journey with our in-house learning programs, where you’ll find immediate connection and be set up for success. You will be provided real opportunities to step up and grow - within your role and beyond.
