The Role
The role is responsible for defining Solution Architecture designs describing the IT components required to meet business outcomes and objectives for initiatives within Link Group. These initiatives can be for Client funded projects, large program of work or BAU initiatives. These architectures are described in Solution Architecture documents which articulate conceptual, logical and physical representations of the solution, highlighting key integration and dependencies between components of the solution.
- Permanent role, Dynamic fast paced architecture team
- Flexible Location - Melbourne CBD or Parramatta
- Flexible working arrangements including WFH
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
- Position Link Group to be better placed to meet the needs of the future by ensuring that solutions are fully considered and balance current business needs and delivery constraints with an understanding of the operational impacts and strategic consequences. This will include better alignment of Solution Architectures to the Enterprise Architecture and underlying IT Strategy, and the utilization of established patterns, rather than point in time or bespoke solutions.
- Document re-usable solution patterns, deriving these from Solution Architecture
- Provide consulting and solution recommendations to projects. This is expressed as succinct solution option papers and solution concept papers. Solution concept papers are used to derive the initial estimations of the cost of projects to support project business cases
- Develop and document projects' Solution Architectures
- Derive Architecturally Significant Requirements (ASR) from Business Requirements, the Enterprise Architecture and Link Group corporate standards
- Consult with peers and subject matter experts to ensure understanding is well rounded, and that ill-fitting assumptions are tested
- Consider, compare and contrast solution options and determine architectural decisions with full traceability back to the ASR
- Document findings in standard Link Group Solution Architecture artefacts.
- Ensure that recommended solutions are consistent with the Enterprise Architecture and underlying IT Strategy. Where time-frames or cost require a solution to be deployed which is at odds with the Enterprise Architecture, the risks and deviations must be documented. In addition, a decommissioning plan for the tactical solution and roadmap for a strategic solution must be documented and communicated.
- Take accountability for the production of Solution Architecture artefacts in line with standards, to an acceptable level of quality and within the timeframes required.
- Accept and take on board feedback and review comments from other members of the architecture and project teams
- Review artefacts developed other members of the Architecture team as required
- Perform assurance on delivered projects, reconciling what was delivered against the approved Solution Architecture
