What does the business unit do?
Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.
EM Technology and Data is responsible for both national and state technology platforms that enable communications to and from the community, sector operational communications and sector information systems. The EM Technology business unit is responsible for delivering Strategy & Enterprise Architecture, Investment Planning; Support & Development; Procurement & Program Delivery and Vendor & Contract Management.
What will the role do?
The role of the Solution Architect will be to design and develops Solution Architectures for enterprise-class business systems. The role will be instrumental in aligning organisational digital strategy and infrastructure with overall Department and state government digital strategy.
Key accountabilities include:
- Creating architecture and design artefacts, diagrams and documentation that effectively communicate the technical vision to stakeholders.
- Owning, capturing and documenting the current architecture where there are gaps, to assist in driving and establishing the target architecture.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders and project teams to gather and document infrastructure, cloud and technical related requirements for various programs and projects. Translate business needs into technical requirements to guide solution design.
What skills and knowledge should the Solution Architect have?
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Extensive experience in architecting and designing cloud-based business solutions, encompassing public (AWS, Azure, Google), private and hybrid models.
- Solid understanding on architecture and design principles and how to apply these principles during the design process.
- Experience in establishing and enforcing architectural standards, policies, and guidelines.
- Solid understanding of information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance and reliability.
- Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorisation and security
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in complex and dynamic environments.
- Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies including Auth0 and MS Entra.
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is highly desirable.
- Relevant industry certifications and /or qualifications such as AWS and/or Azure Certified Solutions Architect.
