The Venue:
The Garden Bar & Kitchen is a waterfront A La Carte restaurant, functions and wedding venue based at The Old Cheese Factory in Frederickton, Macleay Valley.
We are the premium restaurant and leading wedding venue on the Mid North Coast. We are located north of Port Macquarie and nestled amongst the seaside villages of Crescent Head & South West Rocks.
The Garden Bar is the ideal place to unwind with family and friends, to enjoy local and seasonal produce accompanied by great drinks and welcoming service.
We are looking for a hard working and driven Chef who's passion is to create great food and the best dining experience for our guests.
The Sous Chef will be responsible in assisting the head chef with A La Carte, weddings, day-to-day events. They must enjoy working with local suppliers and produce, be creative with food whilst still ensuring ordering and expenses are in line.
The Role:
- Assist the Head Chef in menu development and innovation, ensuring alignment with seasonal offerings and guest expectations.
- Manage ordering and expense controls to optimise financial performance without compromising quality.
- Cultivate strong relationships with local and regional suppliers to procure premium ingredients.
- Oversee the execution of dishes from conception to plate, maintaining consistency and quality throughout.
- Lead and motivate kitchen staff to perform at their best, fostering a culture of teamwork, excellence, and professionalism.
- Manage multiple functions concurrently, including high-volume events such as weddings with up to 150 guests.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all kitchen sections, facilitating seamless operations during service.
You:
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a chef.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends and best practices in kitchen management.
- Proficiency in managing all kitchen sections, including pass, pans, and grill.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
