Job description

The Opportunity:

Newcastle Anglican is seeking a Full timeSous Chef who will be responsible to lead the production kitchen team of chefs, cooks and kitchen assistants.

The role will conduct all aspects of the daily operational requirements of the production kitchen, the Sous Chef is required to; enforce the food safety program and production procedures, maintain standards and foster a positive working environment for the production kitchen.

Work roster includes Monday to Thursday 6:00am to 4:30pm

Role & Responsibilities:  

  • Provide leadership, mentor and coach production kitchen staff through the employee lifecycle;
  • Support the Catering Unit in Anglican Care is to a standard that maintains accreditation and is compliant with a range of applicable Government Legislation (as amended), including but not limited to:Food Regulation Act 2015, Standard 3.3.1 – Food Safety Programs for Food Service to Vulnerable Persons
  • Actively promote the desired culture of Anglican Care across the team by ensuring all interactions, documentation and communication is conducted in a manner which supports the stated Mission and Values.

About you?

  • Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery (SIT30813)
  • Proven working experience as a chef or supervisor in a large scale hospitality catering environment
  • Demonstrated hospitality kitchen management, ordering and stock control
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a flexible, multi-skilled team environment with advanced
  • Interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
