Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Disability Support Worker to join our team. This role involves supporting a complex young male, aged 21, with his day-to-day activities, helping him achieve his NDIS goals, and safeguarding him from potential risks such as substance abuse and sexual vulnerabilities. This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for someone looking to make a significant impact in someone's life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized care and support with daily activities, ensuring the individual's needs and preferences are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of NDIS plans, focusing on achieving set goals and enhancing the individual's independence.
- Monitor and manage potential risks, providing a safe and supportive environment.
- Administer and record medication accurately and responsibly.
- Establish and maintain clear boundaries, using firm yet respectful approaches to manage challenging behaviors.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive support network.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Shift Patterns:
- Rotating roster, including day shifts (09:00-17:00) and night shifts (16:00-22:00) with sleepovers.
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum years of experience working with individuals with ASD Level 2, Brain Injuries, ADHD, and/or Intellectual Disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex care situations and manage challenging behaviors.
- Excellent understanding of medication administration and record-keeping.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and commitment.
- Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including nights and weekends.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant qualifications in disability care or a related field are highly desirable.
