Job description

Are you a Pharmacist with specialised clinical knowledge in medication for treating mental health? Join our new team, making a positive difference in the lives of young people and their families in the North West of Tasmania.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a well-established mental health service in the North West of Tasmania with a highly skilled and passionate team of clinicians. We are seeking a Specialist Pharmacist to work in the Youth Mental Health Hospital in the Home (Y-HiTH) team.
Our Aim:
To support young people (16-24-year-old) who may be experiencing an acute episode of mental illness to receive treatment (including medication management and support, including clinical pharmacy) in their home and within the community, rather than being admitted to an inpatient mental health unit, or as part of a discharge plan from hospital.
The Y-HiTH team will work with the young person and their family/significant others to develop an individual treatment plan that supports their recovery. With multiple home visits occurring every day and additional support via telephone and telehealth, young people will receive comparable treatment from Y-HiTH as they would from an inpatient admission.
CAMHS in Tasmania is undergoing Reform with the exciting development and implementation of new teams working across the state to improve the mental health outcomes of young people and their support systems.
Your Role, CAMHS and the Y-HiTH Team:

  • Coordinate and deliver a specialised clinical and dispensary services for young people admitted to Y-HiTH
  • You will also be a crucial member of the North West based Statewide Hospital Pharmacy team. This team, lead by Executive Director Tom Simpson, provides hospital pharmacy services to patients of Tasmania's acute public hospitals including the provision of medication distribution, dispensing and clinical pharmacy services within the region. Operational leadership will be provided through the Pharmacy service,
  • You will be able to receive peer support through the pharmacy services
  • Be part of establishing a new service in the North West, working with a diverse group of clinicians as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a resource person within Y-HiTH related to mental health medication and provide advice and education to medical, nursing, allied health and pharmacy staff, patients, carers, and students, as and when required.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and updating of policies, protocols, and procedures in relation to Y-HiTH.

Position Features
  • Hospital in the Home (HiTH) services are highly mobile outreach teams providing treatment in the consumer's home.
  • The incumbent may occasionally be required to perform duties at other locations within the jurisdiction of the Agency.
  • Participate in a weekend and after hours on-call roster service with other pharmacists for out-of-hours provision of Pharmacy Services, as needed.
Details of Appointment
Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $106,966 - $118,114 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

  • Current Working with Children Registration
  • Current Drivers Licence
