What the role entails

The Specialist Practice Lead in Families and New Beginnings is an exciting new role to support the ongoing continuous improvement of practice and policies relevant to our work with children, young people and families experiencing homelessness. The Practice Lead will provide specialized knowledge and leadership to manage, and support identified projects, implementation of new ways of working and the development of Launch Housing's approach in supporting children, young people and families.

The position requires a person with expertise in the delivery of support services for people with complex needs and who is able to provide leadership in project management, critical thinking s and understanding of the specialist homelessness service system. 

Primary responsibilities include

  • Working closely with line management, particularly the Group Manager - Families & New Beginnings, to lead the service design, implementation, and ongoing continuous improvement of practice across all Families & New Beginnings programs and teams.
  • Participating in and leading a range of activities which result in the development of an impact led culture, including the development and implementation of practice resources.
  • Supporting a range of evaluative and portfolio project activities that support evidence-based approaches to the work of specialist homelessness providers.
  • Supporting a range of practitioners, leaders, students, consumers, and volunteers to participate in the goals of continuous quality improvement.
  • Supporting the leadership of Homelessness Solutions & Impact to implement and embed key practice frameworks, policies, and procedures across Launch Housing.

  • Have experience working in a client facing human services role with a preference for an understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems (desired).
  • Have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others towards effective client outcomes and exercising skills in engaging with stakeholders.
  • Be able to collaborate with purpose, focused on solutions and able to prioritize and manage available resources to greatest effect within overall resource limits.
  • Have demonstrated high level writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
