The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position: this role will preferably be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)
Reporting to the Team Lead of Purchasing Supply, your role as Specialist Purchasing will be to provide advice and carry out purchasing tasks while adhering to established policies and processes, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and satisfying operational procurement needs.
Accountabilities
- Ensure operational procurement needs are met in a timely and effective manner
- Create and maintain accurate Request for Quotations (RFQs) ensuring timely responses from vendors
- Negotiate pricing to ensure value for money paid, taking a “total cost of ownership” approach
- Ensure all purchase requisitions are compliant with South32 Supply processes and procedures, communicating in a timely fashion any discrepancies and non-compliances to end users for action
- Convert approved Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders, ensuring all purchase orders are created in line with business expectations
- Manage all workflow in the purchasing queue in a timely manner
- Support the payment services team with vendor transactional purchasing queries
- Support Purchasing Expeditor with the expediting of overdue orders as required
- Actively participate in Supply improvement projects as directed by the Purchasing Lead
- Support the Purchasing Team with Control Management Activities and e-business and Process automation objectives and systems
- Proficient in the use of SAP and Ariba with purchasing knowledge and a deep understanding of the entire P2P process chain
- Experience in a commercial/ Supply environment, with a minimum of 3years in Mining & Metals
- Spanish speaking would be advantageous in this role
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent work ethic, enthusiastic and conscientious with a flexible approach
- Relevant Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Supply Chain
