About the role
The Specialist: School Operations Unit (SOU) works with the Manager: SOU, within the School Support Directorate and plays a vital role in ensuring that schools are supported to operationalise system projects and accountabilities.
The SOU is responsible for ensuring that goals and accountabilities are met within schools and the School Support team. The Specialists: SOU monitors key metrics and facilitates effective working relationships between schools within and across networks.
Major Accountabilities
Your key responsibilities include:
- supporting the work and planning of school leaders and networks across a diverse range of contemporary operational areas
- supporting the delivery of a cohesive educational and mission strategy across Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) with the relevant principals and school leaders
- making decisions, in respect to strategic and project initiatives to ensure SCS is a leader in the provision of educational excellence
- managing and responding to inquiries from parents, principals, students and community members including conducting reviews and inquiries into specific issues
- building and developing relationships with school leaders and other directorates to define operational strategies, working with the Director: School Support on special projects
- working with the Director: School Support, Manager: SOU and other Directorates to pursue strategic priorities, help to identify the areas of key focus and identify metrics for success; revisiting regularly and evaluating progress
- coordinating the implementation of strategic initiatives across schools and networks
- ensuring that data is being effectively and critically analysed to inform school improvement
- clarifying the interpretation of data to inform and evaluate projects and programs
- promoting and implementing SCS' mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning.

About you
To be successful in this position, you must possess:
- post graduate qualifications in Education and/or Curriculum, Research or Leadership
- a minimum of 10 years experience in Leadership
- experience in leading a multi-disciplined team
- willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS
- ability to represent the mission of the Catholic Church through your personal and professional conduct.
Desirable
- experience in a similar substantive position
- is a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of their relationship with Jesus Christ
- demonstrated innovation in an educational facility
- a current driver's licence.
