About you:
You will have demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and skill in speech pathology, including commitment to professional development, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement, ability to perform routine clinical speech pathology hospital-based intervention across a broad spectrum of clinical areas. You possess effective communication skills, including interpersonal, written, oral, technological, and educational, and the ability to interact effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in a cross-cultural setting is advantageous.
Your opportunity:
Join a passionate team of Speech Pathologists employed to provide services to inpatients and outpatients within Cairns Hospital. This role is rotational, allowing the development of skills in providing speech pathology assessment and treatment to a range of clinical areas including acute medical and surgical wards, geriatrics, rehabilitation, voice, acute stroke, oncology, and paediatrics.
Your role:
- Culturally safe and supportive entry to practice for speech pathology graduates of identified First Nations background.
- Enhanced training, development, and cultural mentoring support with IAHA Leadership program during the first 12 months.
- Deliver contemporary speech pathology clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management within a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Undertake routine clinical tasks with varying levels of supervision, in line with the Speech Pathology Department's work instructions and clinical procedures. Apply increasing independence with clinically complex scenarios and decision making as clinical skills and knowledge develop.
- Meet relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of specific team e.g., Subacute Care Unit (SACU) as appropriate.
