Contact Details: Dominique Limbrey – 0438 009 219 | dominique.limbrey@dcj.nsw.gov.auAbout the OpportunityThe Elver program delivers specialist, multi-disciplinary care for children and young people living in OOHC across NSW with complex health, mental health and care needs; builds system capacity; and contributes to the evidence base for trauma-informed therapeutic care. The program’s activities are guided by a multi-disciplinary approach that addresses the child’s mental health, developmental and relational needs. Interventions are delivered face to face in clinic or outreach settings and via tele-health.All clinical positions are based in Parramatta, employed by SWSLHD and contracted to the Department of Communities and Justice, managed through a joint DCJ/SWSLHD governance structure. The role requires occasional travel to clients; across metropolitan Sydney and regional areas of NSW.What You'll be DoingThe position is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the delivery of speech pathology services to children and young people who live in OOHC and present with speech, language and communication difficulties . As a senior Elver Program Speech Pathologist, you will apply extensive specialist clinical knowledge and skills to provide individual assessments and implement recommended interventions as part of a statewide multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will also have a key case management role, ensuring provision of integrated service delivery to children living in OOHC by working in partnership with the government and non-government providers that form part of the child’s care/support network. The position will also provide clinical consultation, lead quality improvement activities, participate in supervision, service development and other administrative responsibilities as required.The senior Speech Pathologist also contributes to the teaching, research, and clinical practice advancement of the discipline of Speech Pathology.Where You'll Be Working

  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students and commitment to individual and team based professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer literacy and time management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to EBP and experience implementing EBP into service planning and evaluation of service changes.
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and postgraduate experience and skills in assessing and managing children and adolescents with a variety of communication disorders in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use multidisciplinary teamwork, and to collaborate with other services/organisations relevant to case management and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable and/or at risk communities ensuring the provision of client/family centered care.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
