About the role:
At John Hunter Hospital, you will gain invaluable experience working with adult speech pathology caseloads, honing your skills, and making a real difference in patients’ lives. The position will involve assessing and treating patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders arising from a range of medical conditions. On a typical day, the Speech Pathologist will be given a list of patients to see by the Speech Pathologist Team Leader. They may also be given new referrals throughout the day. They will be required to liaise with medical, nursing, and other allied health staff to provide services.
- You will be supported in the role through supervision and assistance with caseload management, team collaboration, and training and education.
- You will be provided with access to resources and equipment and regular meetings with senior staff for support.

Where you'll be working:
The John Hunter Hospital speech pathology department provides service to inpatients and outpatients.
- Inpatients: We see patients in the hospital who have difficulty with swallowing, breathing, and communicating.
- Outpatients: We see eligible adult patients who have a referral letter from a specialist doctor.

Requirements:
- Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
This position is for you if:
- You have a strong foundation in treating speech, language, and swallowing conditions arising from a medical condition.
- You can manage complex patients and adapt treatment plans according to evolving needs.
