We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer position who will be part of the Global Engineering team providing engineering and technical support to the Metso Services group for the GBP business unit. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership of drive arrangements and Engineering support during the execution of project specific Engineering for the drive equipment in the assigned GBP product line.
It requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work on several projects simultaneously and present a positive, cooperative demeanor with customers and co-workers; you will report to Ville Jarvenpaa'

What you'll do
- Be responsible for reviewing and achieving the project engineering, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Lead the detail design work in standard product development and delivery projects related to drive and motor arrangements.
- Working closely with the Product Lines and management to set the Engineering design guidelines and standards for upgrades, retrofits and refurbishments of mining equipment drive arrangements.
- Provide technical support to all internal groups e.g. Project Management, Procurement, Technical Support, Professional Services and Product Management to facilitate successful design, delivery and installation of equipment
- Provides local and global expertise and support on GBP product group.
- Trains and mentors junior engineers and designers/drafters
- Projects an image of Metso as a service oriented company with competent technical support.
- Position involves traveling to customer sites and suppliers as required.
Who you are
Provides local and global expertise and support in GBP. This includes design, fabrication, quality assurance, sourcing and troubleshooting. Working with the capital equipment business areas, initiates, executes, maintains, and manages our product specifications, design programs, and various development projects.
Provides technical expertise and supervision on GBP projects.
Perform calculations to ensure safe function of equipment for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit.
Prepare mechanical drawings to facilitate fabrication, construction, and installing for equipment or services to refurbish, upgrade, or retrofit.
Visit customer offices and plants to determine physical restrictions or limitations for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit.
Apply Mechanical Engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet customer requirements and specifications.
Show a commitment to quality, ethics, and safety.
Show a commitment to meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.
Observe safety regulations and exhibit a concern for safety.
Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Prepares design ideas and solutions for mechanical equipment and reviews drawings and parts bills for accuracy.
Prepares detailed scope of work for the upgrade of existing equipment.
Resolves Non-conformance and manufacturing deviation issues.
Investigates mechanical problems and proposes corrective actions and/or repair procedures.
Provides technical support to field service representatives. When appropriate, makes recommendations to improve field methods and efficiency.
Provides design expertise and solutions to Metso:Outotec sister companies worldwide.
Utilizes computer hardware and software effectively to perform duties. Develops engineering tools (i.e. Excel calculation sheets -specifically design worksheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc).
Works on research and development projects.
Participates in training seminars (internal and external).
Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Five years of design experience in engineering equipment for the Mining, mineral process or similar heavy industries.
- Experience of heavy-duty drive arrangement engineering is big benefit
- Strong experience using 3D and 2D
- Experience using a FEA modeling package is a plus
- Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to manage engineering work in multiple projects
- Capability to make decisions independently while working as part of a team
- Capability to work in structured manner even under pressure
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Autonomous, capable of making decisions, work with minimum supervision
- Product knowledge of major mining equipment is a plus
- Theoretical and practical background in Mechanical Engineering design principles and machine design (structural, machining, gearboxes, bolting, manufacturing, welding, casting, NDT methods, etc.).
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead technical projects.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings in the English and Metric and Imperial System.

- Must possess a valid driver's license and a passport. This position requires infrequent domestic and international travel.
