­­­What is the role?  

We are looking for a lawyer to join our Legal, Risk & Compliance team that works across our Australian and New Zealand operations.  New challenges will lurk around every corner, and you’ll be in the company of a highly skilled team solving problems collaboratively with the business providing legal expertise toward commercial decision making, employment and industrial relation matters and commercial contracting and ensuring that all operations of the organization are conducted within acceptable parameters highlighting business risks and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation

What will you be doing?

  • Actively driving the legal stream of company-wide projects which span across multidisciplinary areas to support CoreLogic’s strategic initiatives.
  • Providing advice to the business on employment and industrial relations matters
  • Preparing and negotiating commercial contracts with customers and suppliers and non-routine transactions
  • Assisting in the development, implementation and delivery of CoreLogic’s products, policies, procedures, compliance programmes and training programmes in respect of legal issues relevant to the business
  • Monitoring changes and developments in the legal and regulatory framework and advising the business on relevant legal concerns arising from new or proposed legislation and policy.
  • Establishing and managing the outsourcing relationships with external counsel and consultants Assisting with the maturation of processes and procedures for the efficient running of the legal department and efficient provision of legal services
  • Providing advice (and managing advice provided by internal/external lawyers) on legal and regulatory issues of importance to the business
  • Developing, retaining and protecting the legal intellectual capital of the business
  • Assisting in the management of disputes and advising on litigation claims.

Job Qualifications:

You need to have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate to people in a range of positions
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and developing legal skills in key areas for the business
  • Ability to interpret legal requirements and apply to relevant business operations
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and escalations
  • Ability to provide commercially focused legal advice under guidance of senior counsel
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders

What credentials do you need?  

  • Bachelor of Laws from an Australian University
  • Admitted as a Solicitor in one or more States in Australia
  • Admitted as a Solicitor in New Zealand would be preferred but not mandatory
  • At least 5 years legal experience in Privacy and/or IP law and corporate / commercial legal matters

  • Focus on provision of quality and timely legal advice in a range of areas supporting the business.
  • Delivery of advice on key initiatives where identified
