About the Team

The Federal Government’s Status Resolution Support Services (SRSS) program provides assistance to eligible asylum seekers, including accessing financial support, accommodation, healthcare, employment and education.

We deliver the SRSS program to eligible people seeking asylum living in the community on bridging visas. We are one of two national providers delivering services in NSW, ACT, Queensland, Northern Territory, Victoria and Tasmania.

About You

The Case Manager (Intake) is responsible for conducting the holistic assessment and completing applications on behalf of Asylum Seekers for SRSS services as well as providing holistic case management support through submission of a case plan for approved applications within KPI timeframes within the Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS) under contract with the Department Home Affairs (DHA).

The SRSS program is a complex and multifaceted program model that works with asylum seekers in the community that are awaiting the outcome of a visa assessment and are considered highly vulnerable due to their economic, visa or health status. This position will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of intake services to meet the needs of vulnerable asylum seekers.

The position will report to an SRSS Intake Team Leader but is also supported by the leadership team in NSW and will work within a small specialist team to assess client eligibility and conduct intake assessments and submit applications to DHA on behalf of single adults and families. The position will also take on other tasks from time to time such as acting as an Independent Observer for an unaccompanied minor.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess client eligibility for SRSS services and case management
  • Identify and advise the client to collect relevant documentation to include with application for SRSS services
  • Complete SRSS application form and submit to DHA for consideration Provide client referrals as assessed
  • Support clients to independently obtain (where possible) the required documentation for Band 6 application, in line with their vulnerability criteria
  • Undertake comprehensive and regular needs assessment of clients against the vulnerability criteria for the SRSS program, and complete an initial case plan within KPI timeframe
  • Support the client to develop independent skills and to access appropriate supports in their community
  • Liaise with other support services providers, when required
  • Support clients with registrations for essential services and orientation in their local area
  • Maintain accurate digital records of client interactions and services within the SRSS Client Database in line with SSI policies and procedures.
  • Track client approvals and rejections for the SRSS programs.
  • Ensure consistently high-level service is provided to asylum seekers through teamwork and support to SRSS colleagues.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor in Community Services/Welfare or related discipline.
  • Minimum two years’ casework experience, ability to work independently on general tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of case management/assessment approaches and theoretical frameworks. Experience working with CALD clients
