The Role
As a Staff Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our technical vision, driving high-impact projects, and mentoring other engineers. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions and contribute to our success.
What you’ll do day-to-day:
Develop and deploy high quality software solutions.
Design and implement technical solutions for functional and non-functional requirements.
Provide accurate estimates for the development effort for new features.
Apply and promote industry's best patterns and practices.
Contribute to the strategic engineering goals within own team / platform.
Get involved in testing and debugging.
Contribute to the agile ways of working such as stand-up, walkthroughs, Sprints.
Communicate and collaborate with business analysts, designers, developers, etc.
What you’ll need to be successful in this role:
8+ years full stack web experience using JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience leading a team in designing, building scalable, secure software systems.
Experience providing technical leadership, mentorship, pairing opportunities, and code reviews to encourage the growth of other engineers.
Experience developing testable and observable systems – TDD, Jest, Playwright, Splunk
Familiarity with at least one front-end framework – React, Angular or Vue
Understanding of at least one back-end technology, such as NodeJS, Python, Java or C#
Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or a relational database like Postgres or MySQL
Ability to think outside the box and solve problems with new ideas.
Be able to present and communicate ideas and solutions to the wider team.
Desired Skills:
Have a product-oriented mindset and be able to work closely with product managers to understand the needs of the end-users.
Excellent written and verbal communication via async collaboration, documentation, and visibility of work.
Passionate about fostering effective Engineering practices and processes.
Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
Knowledge of API architecture patterns (we use microservices).
Some exposure to DevOps practices and tooling (CDK, Terraform, Docker etc).
Experience deploying multi-environment applications within a major cloud provider (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience in the financial services industry.
