Permanent part time (0.42 FTE total, split across two positions)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to the role of Perinatal Psychiatrist with the Sustaining NSW Families Program. This Sustaining NSW Families Program is a structured, home-based support and intervention program. The program is a nurse-led, structured health home visiting program for children and families from pregnancy to 2 years of age.
About the role:
The consultative Perinatal Psychiatrist role within Sustaining NSW Families will provide expert medical assessment of clients in collaboration with the Child and Family Health Nurses (C&FHN) in their delivery of the Sustained Health Home Visiting Program. This program provides targeted support for pregnant women and continues until the child reaches 2 years of age. The Perinatal Psychiatrist provides leadership, education and support to the C&FHN individually and during case reviews.
We are currently recruiting for two programs, with two available positions at 0.2 FTE each. Both are consultative roles and are required to attend case conferences on the following set days:
- Wallsend Campus – every Tuesday 8am – 4.30pm
- Raymond Terrace – every Thursday 8am – 4.30pm (this position will require travel to Bulahdelah and Manning throughout the year)
About you:
- Hold registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and have recognised qualifications and permission to practice in Perinatal Psychiatry
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality Perinatal Psychiatry services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirement of the position including participation in quality improvement activities relevant to Perinatal Psychiatry
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other members of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and other staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team
