With a strong focus on growth, an exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, self-motivated and experienced State Commercial Operations Manager who wants to develop their career.
We have two positions available, one in Sydney and one in Brisbane. Reporting to the State Manager (dotted line to the Chief Commercial Officer), this business-critical position will take full responsibility for the Commercial Operations of the state. The main focus will be revenue growth through new business and share of wallet via our core services: Cartage / Transport / 3PL Warehousing / eCommerce.
To be successful in this role, experience in business development with the ability to respond to RFP’s in its entirety will be an advantage. Key skills in analysing data, creating presentations, and executing continuous improvement initiatives will be a requirement for this position.
You will have demonstrated and proven experience in business development of new and existing customers, driving operational excellence, building strong internal and external relationships, the capability to influence and lead without having direct reports and delivering the results that allows continued growth within our business.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Business Development – Lead new customer acquisitions and develop strong partnership with existing clients to promote share of wallet.
- Focus on revenue growth while maintain customer relationships.
- Consistently review scope of works against invoices to ensue jobs are billed accurately and as quoted.
- Develop and implement ongoing operational processes and practices.
- Support operations with continuous improvement in the Transport, Depot and Warehousing divisions.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure that managers and their team comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
- Support divisional managers to develop and implement best practice and controls including introducing Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Implement initiatives to ensure cost containment, maximising profit to achieve budgets.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
- Sales/Account Management experience.
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager will be advantageous (or related area such as Logistics, Intermodal, etc.).
- Ability to drive and achieve financial targets in sales growth and operational savings.
- Strong communication (written and verbal)
- Able to lead and develop a team through influence.
- Planning and organisational skills
- Attention to detail.
- Demonstrated Leadership qualities with a "hands on" approach.
- Sound administration and organisational skills.
- Ability to understand and meet KPI requirements.
- Intermediate computer literacy skills.
