Our Office
The MSC Brisbane office is a recently refurbished, modern office in a beautiful Spring Hill heritage building. With end of trip facilities, automated coffee machines, security access and a team of supportive and dedicated colleagues, working in this office is a delight!
We are surrounded by cafes, restaurants and other amenities and are walking distance from Central train station and key bus routes, providing easy access to the CBD and suburbs. We are looking for a candidate who would like to join us and learn about the exciting world of shipping and logistics.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our family company as the State Manager of Queensland.
The State Manager will manage and drive the Queensland State team towards outstanding customer service, sales and local operations and collaborating with the global HQ and Australian Senior Management.
The role is an exciting mix of expanding market intelligence and developing relationships with the company’s valued customers. You will be able to encourage a high-performance work culture, maximise your resources and undertake studies to meet and enhance business objectives.
The successful candidate will have strong commercial and operational knowledge. Ability and confidence to adapt to an ever-changing industry, resilience and decisiveness, as well as attention to detail will be essential.
Leadership experience in the shipping or related industry is crucial and it is vital that you understand how to motivate different people.
You will be reporting to the Managing Director, who is based in Fremantle. Your colleagues are very experienced, and they will provide a great support to you with the onboarding process.
The duties and responsibilities include:
- Management of Sales, Operations and Logistics teams within the local Queensland State office
- Development and execution of annual sales plans
- Execute all levels of sales management and management of KPI’s
- Gather market intelligence, undertaking reviews and studies for business development
- Identification of sales leads, including MEDLOG and value-added services
- Identify areas of potential opportunities, concerns and take appropriate action
- Process annual sales tenders and attend to necessary reporting
The following skills are essential:
- Highly commercial and operational/logistic focused
- Shipping experience or related industry experience is essential
- Solid experience with managing and leading a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Sound negotiation and analytical ability
- Great organisational and time management skills
- Great attention to details
- Experience with Microsoft Office is essential (Outlook, Word, Excel)
The ability to work flexible hours is an essential requirement of the position.
