The role requires a highly collaborative working relationships with staff across, and at all levels of the department, other jurisdictional staff and external experts.The role will provide timely, strategic, informed and future orientated, best practice advice about policies, programs, strategies and learning environments that best support children and students with sensory impairment. Extensive knowledge of the functional needs of children and students with sensory impairment and the best practice programs, supports and adjustments needed to support them and how leaders, teachers and support staff should be supported to provide these is required to complete this work.Qualifications:Desirable: Relevant post graduate qualifications – an appropriate tertiary qualification in 1 or more of the following fields: education, disability or public policy. Sound working knowledge of the educational implications of the Disability Discrimination Act and the Disability Standards in Education.Special Conditions:The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
