About your new Branch
The Engineering, Design and Standards Branch is responsible for infrastructure engineering, design, survey, specifications, asset standards, electrical infrastructure and contributed assets across all customer and community facing infrastructure classes.
About your new role
Under the guidance of the Senior Specialist Engineer, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our team.
About your new team
Our stormwater team has substantial experience delivering small local projects (paths, parks, local drainage upgrades) to major projects (large culvert crossings, bridges, highway upgrades). Working in this team will provide you mentorship opportunities to improve technical knowledge, learn from specialists in other disciples and grow as an Engineer.
Key Role Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties of the role incumbent include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake minor, moderately complex and complex multidisciplinary engineering projects with the guidance of the principal engineer.
- Adhere to project management methodology
- Use relevant skill, judgement and experience and participate in the creation of the following project documents:
- planning reports, needs analyses report, option reports and feasibility studies
- estimates of cost of engineering and design that meet client expectations
- detail design plans and related documentation
- construction methodology in collaboration with the construction team.
- Provide technical advice articulating concepts in ‘Plain English’, ensuring consistency and clarity of advice.
- Conform to policies, procedures and legislative requirements
- Assist with defining capacity and configuration of urban infrastructure in accordance with the relevant guidelines.
- Ensure any design involving or relating to stormwater will result in either reducing or non-worsening of flooding to private properties.
- Produce documentation detailing the assumptions, methodology, results and conclusions of the works undertaken.
- Check design drawings to ensure the information related to proposed infrastructure is correct.
What you bring to your new role
To be successful in this position you will be a highly motivated professional with advanced interpersonal skills and a strong customer focus. You will utilise your highly developed analytical, problem solving, negotiation and investigative skills to provide sound advice, options and recommendations to influence project outcomes in particular communicating water engineering findings and outcomes.
- You hold a Bachelor Degree of Engineering
- Experience in surface water engineering, utilising guidelines: QUDM, Austroads, TMR specifications, ARR19
- Experience in software TUFLOW, QGIS, ArcGIS
- Experience in AutoCAD, 12d, URBS – desired but not essential
- Other experience in specialist software (ie FLOW-3D, Python, MUSIC) or water related skills (WSUD, temporary works, advanced hydrology) - desired but not essential
- Willing to obtain Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) status in the future.
- A commitment to undertake continuing professional development (CPD).
- You hold a Current C Class unrestricted Driver Licence.
