The Strategic Operations Manager - Country Road and Trenery is responsible for the design and delivery of strategic retail projects that contribute to the success of the Brand/s retail strategy.
This is a key role in the Country Road and Trenery Retail Operations structure, working closely with the Head of Retail and the Retail Operations Leadership peer group to deliver on initiatives that result in a ‘best in class’ experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand CRG organisational strategy and partner with key stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives that support retail growth
- Understand the long-term retail vision and support the Head of Retail to develop the CR/TR retail strategy. Be data led, and use this data to provide insights and direction.
- With the support of the Head of Retail, develop and execute tactical plans that support the delivery of the retail strategy ensuring key milestones are achieved to facilitate the growth and direction of the business
- Ensure tactical plans are considered end to end. Partner with key stakeholders across the business to ensure any change is carefully planned, with end users in mind.
- Have awareness of competitor activity and best practice retail trends. Use this information to inform insights and recommendations to the Head of Retail
- Seek out opportunities to improve, streamline or re-imagine work processes that enable efficiency, saves cost, and elevates the customer and team experience.
- Lead the planning of the real estate strategy for Country Road/Trenery including new store openings/ store design/refurbishments/small works and maintenance
- Represent CR/TR retail on CRG group initiatives and strategic projects. Where appropriate, act as the CRG retail lead on projects that impact all brands.
- Build Store Investment Plans in conjunction with commercial finance and real estate and development
- Lead the action planning for new store openings consulting with National Retail Manager and Regional Managers
- Partner with the retail operations and merchandising teams to determine the right timing for implementation of new store openings
- Communicate key dates and responsibilities to the business
- Once store openings are signed off lead the implementation plan to ensure on track for delivery
- Evaluate performance and work with internal stakeholders to develop growth plans
- Conduct PIR on new store openings and refurbishments to ensure Invesco sign offs are met together with providing recommendations to drive performance
- Provide Head of Retail with commercial recommendations to deliver sales and profit targets across brands channels to include space optimisation, store size, department space, new store opportunities and lease renewals
- Accountable for driving the achievement of key projects to agreed budgets and partner with Head of Retail to identify opportunities to develop projects that align to Brand strategic direction
The Ideal Candidate has
- Extensive Management experience within a retail environment or working in a high sales turnover retail business
- A future focused mindset
- Experience in building, driving and executing projects
- Ability to manage budgets and interpret basic financial reports
- A passion for the retail industry, exceptional customer service and a strong sense of personal style and presentation
- Skills associated with driving productivity in a team
- Ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders
