Job description

The Role:

As the Strategic Planning Engineer sitting within Grid Planning (Network Development), you will be responsible for providing expertise in advanced network modelling and power system analysis to support and develop strategic network plans and tools broadly for the Grid Planning group.

This includes development of new network planning techniques and automated systems to simulate existing and future networks, as well as assessing emerging technologies which could support Strategic Planning of EQL’s networks. Spatial forecasts and strategic area plans will consider traditional load growth as well as new technologies such as Photovoltaic Systems (PVs), Electric Vehicles (EVs), and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

This position also supports development of planning standards and delivery of regulatoryreporting requirements and considers how these will influence and impact the long-term planning of the network.

You will develop and implement modelling systems, reporting functions, and network planning and analysis tools that will enable you to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of network planning techniques.

With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band from starts from $140,751 for 9 days and $159,049 for 10 days+ 12.75% superannuation. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About You:

In addition to your Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Information Technology (or equivalent), you will have a basic to intermediate knowledge of power systems, network modelling, and network planning.

On top of your experience, you will also have the aptitude and attitude to learn, grow, and develop your engineering and inter-personal skills in a well-supported team.

Experience in LV network planning would be advantageous.
