This brand-new role with Screen Queensland is a great opportunity to establish a framework for managing and reporting on strategy and programs of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer. The key to success in the role will be the ability to balance leadership and technical responsibility through leading strategically, building enduring relationships, driving accountability and outcomes and demonstrating sound governance. What you will do:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Strategy & Programs Advisor will provide policy leadership, advice, and guidance on a range of initiatives and issues. The Advisor will work across the organisation to deliver a coordinated approach to government partnerships enhancing Screen Queensland’s engagement in outcomes and strengthening relationships with Arts Queensland and other government agencies.

The program of work will include, but is not limited to,

1. Coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the delivery of Screen Queensland’s actions referenced in

  • the Screen Queensland Strategic Plan
  • Advance Queensland: Screen Industry 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan,
  • Screen Queensland Annual Report and
  • Other government plans and strategies Screen Queensland has recorded commitments.

2. Research and respond to enquiries from industry, partner agencies, customers, and the community.

3. Co-ordinate and participate in consultation and engagement with partner agencies, industry, and other key stakeholders.

4. Preparation and/or contributing to the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, estimates preparation

and correspondence.

5. Working collaboratively with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry, and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on

government commitments.

6. Ability to represent Screen Queensland at meetings, committees and industry events groups and determine opportunities and partnership outcomes for Screen Queensland.

What you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, community representatives and other relevant parties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing briefs and reports, the ability to distil complex ideas into concrete and accessible guidance and advice, and the ability to present and speak to diverse stakeholders and audiences.
  • High level research and analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations, understanding policy implications and identifying strategic opportunities.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills to support engagement with government.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing their own workload and prioritising competing tasks to meet deadlines. This includes balancing planned work with unexpected and urgent tasks and requests for advice.
  • A commitment to maintaining a work environment where differences are valued, encouraged, and supported.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualification in communications, business, or public sector management.
  • Experience in government policy/ program management role is required.
  • Experience in an arts organisation is not essential but will be viewed favourably.
