As the Structural Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Services and technical advice for architects, engineers, builders, and others in timber engineering, mainly trusses/floor trusses and frames and their application.
- Providing engineering and technical support including designs, software support, rectifications, and site inspections for fabricator clients.
- Participate in the development of new products and solutions.
- Liaise with MiTek clients and provide the highest quality customer service in terms of engineering support tailored to client's requirements.
- Develop Structural Designs for fabricators, architects, and engineers.
- Stay updated on advancements in timber and structural engineering.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure the delivery of top-tier service.
- Contribute to training courses for client staff.
- Conduct on-site inspections for roof trusses, wall frames, and floor trusses for certification or forensic investigations. Prepare reports containing professional advice and recommendations to ensure smooth communication.
- Engage in relevant professional development activities to maintain or pursue accreditation by Engineers Australia.
The ideal Structural Design Engineer meets the following requirements:
- Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar.
- 3-5 years of experience in the role, desirable knowledge of timber structures
- Proficient in Structural Engineering
- Passionate about timber
- Excellent communication skills required to liaise with different levels of stakeholders
- Knowledge of AU standards applicable to residential/light commercial construction
- Willingness to deliver site inspections in not confined spaces
- Familiarity with software design solutions (AutoCAD)
- willingness to comply with Engineers Australia Code of Ethics
- Eligibility or commitment to work toward recognition with NER or CPEng programs.
