Event Engineering are hiring! We’re looking for a mid-level Structural Engineer with a strong foundation in the basics, who is keen to work on more creative and dynamic projects for the arts and entertainment industries.
We design and engineer temporary and permanent structures for events, film productions, public artworks, and much more.
About the job- A Structural Engineer with minimum 4 years' experience, keen to learn new skills on the job.
- Full time, office and location-based work. Our office is in Chippendale, Sydney. Inspections are all over Sydney and sometimes interstate.
- The nature of event work is that inspections can occur outside of normal working hours and require travel. Flexibility is essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural designs, including temporary structures such as pop-up activations and event related infrastructure.
- Prepare design calculations, specifications, design analysis, in traditional materials such as steel and timber, and emerging building materials such as FRPs (fibre reinforced plastics), PVC, fibreglass and more.
- Perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, response to requests for information, perform site inspections.
- Prepare reports, designs and drawings.
- Collaborate with architects, set designers, event managers and artists.
- Run your own projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (essential).
- Minimum 4 years of experience.
- Member of Engineers Australia (or in the process of).
- Sound understanding and practical application of the basics of structural analysis.
- Ability to manage a project from proposal to design, inspection and certification.
- Experience with software SpaceGass, Strand 7, Inducta SLB and Autocad all essential
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organisational and time management skills.
