About the Hawkesbury
Hawkesbury City Council provides services and facilities to more than 67,000 residents living in urban and rural communities spread across an area of 2,800 sq km, making us the largest local government area in the Sydney Metropolitan Area. As part of Sydney’s population growth, the Hawkesbury is located within the North West Growth Centre with a number of urban release areas at Vineyard as well as North Richmond and Glossodia.
About the role
The Student Assessment Officer is an exciting new position that will provide the successful candidate with invaluable on the job experience whilst working towards achieving a planning related qualification. This position plays an important role in supporting the Development Assessment branch to operate within the principles of best practice whilst also delivering on business excellence. The team are embarking on a period of significant transformation and reform and are committed to delivering and exceeding the expectations of the Hawkesbury community and the development industry.
About You
You will be highly motivated and currently enrolled in tertiary study, working towards a planning qualification. You will be a fast learner with a strong work ethic and you will be keen to apply your studies to efficiently and effectively process development and associated applications submitted to Council. You will be committed to providing excellent customer service and delivering the best outcome for both Council and the Community that we serve.
The successful candidate will have
- Enrolled in relevant tertiary study, working towards a Planning qualification
- Class C Drivers Licence
It would be highly valued if you can also demonstrate
- An understanding of the development application process in the context of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993, as well as associated legislation and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing skills
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Officer, as well as an ability to navigate NSW Planning portal
