Russo Higher Education (RHE) Pty Ltd are currently seeking a full time Student Success Officer based in Brisbane CBD. This is working within James Cook University Brisbane which is a campus of James Cook University operated in partnership with RHE.
The Student Success Officer will provide guidance and support to students with a with a focus on wellbeing and academic success. The role aims to provide direct support to new and continuing students to enhance the student experience and improve retention and success. This is a full time role based in Brisbane CBD.
Part of your role, you will be required to:
- Providing well-informed, strengths-based referral services to students to support successful transition into, progression through, and engagement with campus life; including personalised case management and monitoring, where required.
- Contributing to the retention and attainment of current students through evidence-based and proactive collaboration with students and staff to identify individual support needs, monitor student engagement and identify ‘at risk’ students.
- Developing and nurturing strong and working relationships with internal campus service providers (Student Services, Student Association, The Learning Centre, Advocacy, Wellbeing) to ensure the provision of appropriate, timely, and accurate referral information to students.
- Supporting student engagement, well-being and cultural needs through assisting and contributing to special events and the delivery of educational workshops.
- Contribute to and participate in the student Orientation programs through O’Week until final acceptance.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively liaise, consult, influence and negotiate with a wide range of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
- Proficiency in English with strong grammar, academic writing, and presentation skills .
- Relevant Tertiary qualification e.g., Learning support, Psychology, Education, or a related discipline (essential).
- Previous experience in a similar role or teaching experience desirable.
- High level of organisational skills with an ability to priorities workload, meet deadlines and demonstrate flexibility in dealing with people who have competing demands.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work as part of a cohesive team.
