STUDENT EXPERIENCE TEAM
Encompassing the Volunteering program, International Student program, Clubs and Societies, Performing Arts program and flagship events such as Welcome Fest. The Student Experience team is the heart of campus life at the University of Sydney. Events and programs created by the USU attract around 30,000 students each year.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The right candidate for this role is passionate about driving wellness in all areas, understands and recognises sensitive situations & is caring and compassionate by nature.
The Wellbeing and Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting our students within aspects of their wellbeing related to their membership of clubs and societies. The role is part of the Student Experience team and works with a range of both internal and external stakeholders to provide support, referrals and interventions as well as to deliver wellbeing programs and initiatives aimed at improving student safety on campus. This role works within the USU’s largest program – Clubs and Societies. The Wellbeing and Safety Advisor is responsible for the management of incoming student grievances and implementing a diverse range of training programs for Club executives and working closely with student club executives to support them in facilitating activities and events which provide a safe and connected student experience.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in Social Work, Youth Work or Counselling
- Clear Police Check
- Demonstrated experience working in a youth program
- Excellent customer service skills (face to face, telephone & written) with demonstrated ability to resolve customer issues and find solutions
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead
- Demonstrated administration skills with experience working on database, customer relationship and customer service platforms and systems
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in computer-based administrative systems, particularly Microsoft and google suite of applications
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people from differing backgrounds
- Proven ability to work with deadlines & under pressure with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- General understanding of University environment
- Current Working With Children Check
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Demonstrated knowledge of the University of Sydney, The University of Sydney Union and its activities
- An understanding of implementing compliance and working within a regulative environment
- Understanding of USU Clubs & Societies Program
- Experience in working in a not-for-profit organisation
- A current NSW provisional or above Driver’s License
