Your Opportunity

We have a newly shaped opportunity for a Studies Managerwithin our Water Ventures team, which is part of our Environmental & Industrial Group.

Our Water Ventures team does work that you wouldn’t typically expect in a regulated utility - creating new solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers, within and beyond our service territory. We collaborate with our customers and stakeholders to shape opportunities, develop the new products and services, and ultimately operate the commercial business units.

The Studies Manager collaborates with stakeholders across every aspect of our business to deliver end-to-end studies from desktop to feasibility level. These studies are central to advancing and delivering our Grow & Adapt program, which will help achieve strategic financial resilience and to build capacity to deliver our purpose – to Enrich Quality of Life.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a team and drive for fast execution of strategic initiatives. Collaborate with others to form approved work programs, ensuring that program progress and deliverables meet agreed milestones and outcomes
  • Plan and lead the delivery of a range of information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and specify, negotiate, and agree on project deliverables.
  • Manage a portfolio of capital projects ,manage the production of project and workstream plans, ensuring that all activities are identified, are appropriately organized and resourced to deliver project objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate complex, expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs. Conduct options analysis and develop business cases for approval in conjunction with key internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for projects to identify relevant stakeholders, to develop positive stakeholder relationships, and to ensure that each stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice.
  • Manage the project review process, provide stakeholders and Executive team with accurate and relevant information and key recommendations at agreed review points to enable them to evaluate progress and agree on change.

About You:

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences: 

  • Bachelor of Engineering, and/or Post Graduate qualifications in Project Management or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in brownfields project management, leading expansion/feasibility studies that vary between $10M - $200M.
  • You will bring core project management skills including stakeholder engagement, change management, program planning and budgeting, and project reporting
  • Have a critical thinking and growth mindset when looking to de-bottleneck problems whilst exhibiting high levels of perseverance and resilience, and can develop program and portfolio plans to address, develop, and execute on these initiatives.
  • You are a big picture thinker, natural collaborator, and enjoy creating strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups.
