Energy Queensland have permanent opportunities for multiple Substation Design Engineers within our Operations team located in Cairns, Brisbane (Newstead), Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Townsville.
About your new role:
As the successful candidate your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

• Deliver both primary and secondary systems detailed electrical designs for a range of high-voltage substation projects within the Queensland electricity network.
• Undertake specialised electrical engineering studies within a substation environment including earthing systems, AC/DC system loadings, cable ratings, lightning studies, noise modelling and EMF studies.
• Provide technical advice, conceptual detailed design solutions and construction estimates.
• Coordinate design outputs with other design disciplines such as Civil/Structural, Mechanical, SCADA/Telecommunications, Transmission Lines, Distribution Lines, Protection and Metering to produce a fully integrated design product.
• Be the point of contact for providing design support during construction activities for projects.

Essential Selection Criteria include:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering that meets the qualification requirements to become a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland.

The remuneration for your new role is from $140,751 – $161,746 plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $159,049 - $182,773 plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight. This figure includes the 8.63% consumer price index (CPI) increase, in effect as part of the current enterprise agreements from the last pay period of February 2024.

About you:
You have knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices of indoor and outdoor substation primary plant design and/or secondary systems designs, as well as having experience in sound electrical engineering practice and judgement across industries.
Your experience includes:

• Knowledge and understanding of electricity industry networks and substation environments.
• Undertaking detailed electrical designs of primary and/or secondary systems associated with substations.
• Undertaking detailed electrical engineering studies to support Substation Design products.
• A strong background working in a multi-disciplined team environment and an ability to lead the design phase and produce high quality design products.
• An ability to develop construction estimates from detailed design products to support project delivery.
