Fortescue is currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join their Trade Training Team. Reporting directly to the Superintendent Trade Apprenticeships, the role is to supervisor and manage Apprentices/Trainees within Fortescue's Apprenticeship Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct the day-to-day workplace supervision/management of Apprentices/Trainees
  • Ongoing Apprentice/Trainee management through leave submission, PPE orders, remuneration reviews, Apprentice/Trainee intakes and onboarding, site training courses, disciplinary and performance management
  • To liaise directly with Workplace Superintendents and Supervisors to provide information around required work task exposures and potential full-time employment opportunities
  • Assist in the sourcing of external secondment opportunities for Apprentices
  • Manage individual Apprentice rotations in order to gain skill development and equipment exposure required for chosen trade through working with internal and external teams to facilitate
  • Liaise with Trade Training Supervisors regarding future training schedules/opportunities and the Trade Training Officers to adjust/manipulate flights, accommodation, and rosters where required to align with on and offsite training
  • Conduct Success Factors Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reviews 6-monthly
  • Provide confidential mentoring support to Apprentices/Trainees where required including both professional support/mentoring for training and work purposes and pastoral care for the range of personal issues experienced in the FIFO life
  • Manage/provide clear expectations, guidance, and role modelling for Apprentices/Trainees

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in the day-to-day management/supervision and mentoring of mature age Apprentices/Trainees
  • Experience working with Supervisors and Tradespeople to ensure work/task allocation meets the on-the-job training objectives and requirements of the Trade Qualification
  • Experience in leading and managing a diverse workforce to provide superior outcomes
  • Experience in pastoral care to order to support your teams
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Application Suite - Work, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, Teams
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
  • Certificate III in either Heavy Mobile Equipment, Mechanical Fitting, Fabrication, Automotive Electrical or Electrical (Desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable)
